Your inventory position, connected to your ad spend.
Campaigns continue running after stock reaches zero. Ad Spend Control reads your live inventory and pauses the affected campaigns across Meta, Google and TikTok within minutes of the stockout.
What it costs you now
-
Spend against products you cannot ship.
A bestseller sells through on a Saturday. Campaigns run until someone notices on Monday. The clicks are real and the orders cannot be fulfilled.
-
Degraded campaign performance.
Advertising unfulfillable products depresses conversion rate and quality signals, which raises acquisition cost on everything else you run.
-
Manual monitoring.
Two to four hours a week spent checking stock against campaign status, usually by someone whose time is worth more than that.
How it works
-
Inventory monitoring
The system reads your Shopify inventory hourly — tunable to fifteen minutes during peak or flash sales — and calculates days of cover rather than raw units. Current stock divided by trailing sales velocity.
-
Threshold logic
Each SKU is evaluated against its active campaigns:
- Below five days of cover — campaigns paused across all platforms
- Eight to fifteen days — budget reduced to extend inventory life
- Above sixty days — budget increased to clear surplus
-
Platform execution
Direct API integration with Meta, Google Ads and TikTok carries the change through in near real time.
-
Restock handling
When inventory returns, budgets scale back up gradually rather than instantly, avoiding the performance volatility of a sudden resume.
-
Manual override
An exception layer lets you suspend the logic for a specific campaign during a promotion.
What it is worth
For a store spending £120,000 monthly on paid media, we model exposure of £1,400 to £3,600 a month.
The assumptions: 12% to 20% of spend sits on SKUs that experience a stockout, and those campaigns run unpaused for 10% to 15% of the period. Change either input and the figure moves. We measure both against your own data during the diagnosis before recommending anything.
We do not add lost sales on top of this. The wasted spend and the lost conversion are the same event, and counting both would overstate the case.
Commercials
- Implementation from £4,500 · Retainer from £500 monthly, twelve months then rolling
- Live in two to three weeks from data access
- Typical payback: three to seven months against total first-year cost
Suited to stores spending £75,000 or more monthly on paid media. Below roughly £75,000 the modelled recovery does not reliably cover the first-year cost, and we would tell you so at diagnosis.
How the engagement runs
-
Diagnosis
We measure your actual stockout frequency and the share of spend sitting on affected SKUs. You see the figure before you commit.
-
Scope
We set your days-of-cover thresholds and budget rules per product category.
-
Build
We construct the integrations between your inventory data and each ad platform.
-
Handover
Live dashboard, documentation, and a fortnight of monitoring to tune the thresholds against real behaviour.
Questions
Is this a Shopify app?
No. It is bespoke middleware built for your store. There is no monthly licence to a third party, and you own the logic outright.
Will it slow my site?
No. Everything runs on external servers communicating with APIs. Nothing is added to your theme.
What access do you need?
API access to Shopify for inventory data, and to each ad platform for budget changes. Read-only wherever a change is not required.
How quickly does it react?
Hourly by default. Fifteen-minute polling is available where velocity justifies it, though for most stores hourly is sufficient and less demanding on API limits.
Can I override it?
Yes. The exception layer allows manual suspension per campaign, which most stores use during launches and promotions.
Does it handle multi-warehouse inventory?
Yes. The logic can read global stock or a specific regional position, depending on how you fulfil.
What happens on restock?
Budgets scale back up in stages rather than resuming at full spend, which avoids the volatility a hard resume causes.
Who is this not for?
Stores spending under roughly £75,000 a month on paid media, or those whose bestsellers rarely stock out. In both cases the arithmetic is unlikely to justify the build, and we would tell you so.
